Charitable Organizations

Skyles Law Group has many charities as clients.  We know how difficult it is to maintain compliance with the many different local, state and federal laws and regulations.  Skyles Law Group provides the following services to their charity clients

  • Formation consultation and services
  • Form 1023 filings

Charities also need help with annual financial audits and annual Form 990 reporting.  Skyles Law Group works with accountants who have experience in this field, and is willing to help clients meet those needs as well.

Non-charitable Non-Profits

Most people think that all non-profits are charities.  This is not the case.  What makes a charity distinctive is the contributions to the charity are tax deductible.  This is not the case with non-profits that are not charities.  Non-profits that are not organization as charities include civic organizations, labor unions, business leagues, political activist organizations, fraternal organizations, and some insurance groups.

Often times the legal needs of a non-charitable non-profit are similar to those of a charity, but not always.  Skyles Law Group also serves the legal needs of  non-charitable non-profit organizations.

Most states require non-profits to register with their state government.  This can be an expensive, time consuming and irksome task for most non-profits.  Skyles Law Group will consult with you to determine the best path for your organization to register with state agencies.
